My name is Lydia. I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Linguistics and Translation at City University of Hong Kong and I received my PhD in Linguistics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I do both sociolinguistic and discourse analytic work and my research focuses on how people use and understand language in relation to their moral, national and gendered identities in a globalizing world.

To read my academic work you can visit my academia.edu page.

I have also worked with my friends and colleagues to create materials that apply theories about language to the classroom context in the "Language and Diversity in K-12 Education Initiative". In the resources tab you can get access to these materials.
